Atmos Was Already Investigating Leaks Before Deadly Explosion

Recommended Posts

Not good, people. I'm not really sure it matters much if Atmos followed safety protocols. Does it really matter if they followed to the letter of the law, the established safety procedures when someone dies? This article makes it sound like Atmos knew there were leaks after one fire, but failed to act. Then another explosion happened, killing a 12-year-old girl. I'm guessing her parents don't care if Atmos' actions were lawful. If there was a leak and Atmos knew it, in my mind, law or no law, you shut down the gas and work to fix it. If this is indeed true, the rest of the oil industry should work to put Atmos down and out of its misery. This kind of inexcusable behavior is precisely what activists (and rightly so) are up in arms about.

Why does the oil and gas industry continue to give environmentalists and activists ammunition?
