Does Trump have an in-depth knowledge of the oil industry? I doubt it. This is similar to him having an in-depth knowledge of military operations or the mining industry. It is ridiculous to assume that he has an in-depth knowledge of each and every industry. That said, he does understand business, and he will have advisors for each segment of industry. Very well said Mr. Buckland, after the last comment concerning Trump's understanding of the oil industry, I was going to comment the same response. I am glad others have an understanding what it takes to be a billionaire.

I hope that you never find yourself in a position where some tabloid rag or a blogger defames your wife, or mother, or sister, whatever, in public. However, it is blatantly apparent that you are of the same ilk, because you only present the accusations; not the full story and not the apologies both accusers had to release publicly for having absolutely no facts to substantiate their claims. You should feel ashamed of yourself for having the lack of character and class to state such extreme, proven baseless, accusations without admitting they were and are flat out lies. 1st amendment, my ass. Melania Trump settles defamation claim against blogger “I acknowledge that these false statements were very harmful and hurtful to Mrs. Trump and her family, and therefore I sincerely apologize to Mrs. Trump, her son, her husband and her parents for making these false statements,” the blogger, Webster Tarpley, wrote in a statement released by Trump’s lawyer. Trump, who is married to U.S. President Donald Trump, filed the lawsuit last year against both Tarpley and the Daily Mail, a British tabloid, after the newspaper published an article that falsely alleged she had worked for an escort service. --- The article cited a Slovenian magazine’s report that a modeling agency with which Trump worked in New York in the 1990s also served as an escort business. The Daily Mail published a retraction and apology after the lawsuit was filed, saying in a statement it had not intended to state or suggest that Trump had worked as an escort. 3 1

To expect Trump to be an expert in, and knowledgable about, each and every industry or issue is irrational. I tend to agree. But this also means that discussions on Trumps attention spand, humility, personality etc is very relevant. What if Trump is listenening to wrong people.... Does he not have a responsibillity to surround himself with the rigth people? Generally in private companies a high employee rotation is a bad thing because expertise etc is lost... Gerry Maddoux + 3,627 GM April 14, 2020 Given what's happening in the world, especially with Mr. Trump having to deal with deeply-seated bureaucrats in the cozy chairs of the CDC and the NIH, and taking into consideration that our Saudi "allies" tried to choke us to death in the throes of the worst contagion since the 1918 flu, and then ladling on top of this toxic stew the juices of a press corp of incompetents trying to bleed him out at every outing, he is doing an exceptional job. I have no idea what is happening to his blood pressure or his stress cortisol levels, but on the surface he is calm and looks rested. Those are the outward signals that a man is at peace with himself. I strongly imagine that he figured someone in the business of worrying about viruses and pandemics would have laid back some masks and gloves. And he didn't figure that a man--even a communist man--leading a country would dare lie about an infectious agent. What Mr. Trump found himself surrounded by when he took office made it appear that Julius Caesar was surrounded by loyal patriots. Our president has had to eliminate a Brutus here, a Rex Tillerson there. So what? This ain't private enterprise and never will be. This is gutter politics, and if you don't want to get dirty don't enter the fray. I like Mr. Tillerson but a Secretary of State he isn't--yet his name was floated by none other than Bob Gates. Mr. Trump has turned over his personnel at a rapid rate, but so what? It's his leeway to surround himself by people who do the job. 1

Do you believe in all honesty that Trump understands the Oil Industry? Does the US have an oil minister? or advisor? James, after giving your question some thought I had to rethink my first impression. No Trump does not understand the industry. Some of his off the cuff answers show he doesn't. And, I don't know that he has a lot of knowledge of even the who's who in the oil business. What I would say is his selection of people to bring to the table to discuss the plan for working with Russia and Saudi Arabia surprised me. Many past presidents including Bush probably would not have selected a group with the diversity that was brought to the table. Two large integrated companies that operate with significantly different philosophies. The 3 large E&P companies that are quite different in approaches to their programs, a major refiner/petrochem company. One of the biggest multifaceted pipeline/liquids processing company that takes crude & liquids from the producers and then delivers to refiners and petrochem facilities. Darren Woods XOM, Vicki Hollub OXY, Mike Wirth CVX, Dave Hager DVN, Greg Garland Phillips 66, James Teague EPD and Harold Hamm CRL all together to discuss the issues and solutions. To me that provides a very broad range of knowledge across the industry. Are they the best, heck I don't know any of them but Hamm and I have only met him where he spoke once in OK, but he was impressive. No doubt been around the industry in varying areas and super sharp as I am sure most of the others are. Many of the past presidents probably would have brought in the name brand leaders. Outside of XOM, CVX and Phillips those people were not there. Much of America probably still thinks Phillips 66 drills wells. They think OXY is a chemicals company that contaminated Love Canal. I doubt most of the public knows who EPD, CRL and DVN even are let alone what they do or why they are important. There were probably a lot of butt hurt CEOs too. Should they have been there, heck everyone has an opinion on that. I think he has some sharp people advising him. I also think he has some people who would love to sink his ship still on the team. But you listen to some of these people who sit in meetings with him, he asks great questions, he assess their opinions, he takes their advice in many cases and makes decisions on it, and he is most gracious to them. Outwardly he acts like a damn New Yorker. Cuomo and DeBlasio are no different. I as probably you and many others have worked with New Yorkers and I bet many have the same opinion of them as I do. Are they sharp? One of the best compressor engineers I ever worked with was from NY and arrogant as hell. I would never call him humble either. As far as Boris Johnson, dang I hope he is back on his game! He is awesome. It seems he and Trump could make a lot of positive things happen worldwide if they are around another 4 years together!! 1
jason dinges + 6 JD April 14, 2020 What is sad for us in the business, is the lack of knowledge of the price itself. We produce oil in Kansas. Common Kansas oil is priced at 10 dollars under WTI price So, like today West Texas Crude closed right at 20 dollars meaning our good quality crude is priced at 10 dollars. We do produce enough, that we get a 3 dollar bonus, so our company will be getting 13 dollars. Wyoming sweet crude is posted under 5 dollars today. 2

Any new President is saddled with ‘hold overs’ from the previous administration. If on company performs a hostile takeover of another, how often is the Board of Directors of the company which was taken over stay on? Referring to the four year cycle, my point was that most companies have longer than four years to implement and execute a business plan.

I don’t see where Trump should assist them. I really don’t care if Trump lacks public speaking skills or not, or if he reshuffles the cabinet to further his agenda, as long as he does the best he can to meet the campaign promises which got him elected. 1
