Russia is, to my thinking not communist ( except for the history), but more of a crony capitalist dictatorship with a faux democracy facade. That is not really too far from what the American Democrat progressives are attempting to turn America into. If they were to succeed there would eventually be little difference. You are speaking of industry not the total real economy including agriculture and private enterprise. No? I am probably talking about the share of GDP that is generated by companies at least 51% publicly owned. The government reserves the majority shareholder control rights, the rest are regular shares you can invest in. That's very close to total real economy. Russia barely has any small business left due to sanctions induced credit crunch.

I find that Putin's cronies are actually quite good (Lets call them Gen 2 oligarchs) Like there is this guy who started MasterDent, a chain of 24/7 dental clinics in a kiosk. I had not only a tooth pooled, but fairly complicated surgery done. In the middle of the night, with no prior appointment and for less than $150. You could use something like that, IMHO.

Credit for domestic business, not so much. Classic banana republic neocolonial setup.

OK, Here is a simpler example. Aquanika, a mineral water company US set onto its sanctions list https://www.mildberry.com/cases/aquanika/ Which, as the result, has all of their addresses on Google and Yandex maps be bogus. I started looking into that. Turns out, on one hand. 1. It is Putin's cronies. Get all the big government business, like the official water of the Russian railroad 2. The water is good! Turns out, there is a lot more to bottled water business than anybody knew. For example, you should never drink any bottled water from Alpine springs. German Stiftung Warentest reveals deadly amounts of arsenic and heavy metals every time they do spot tests. Why is that? They are usually tapped as hot springs, carrying superheated water/steam which is a much better solvent for stuff that water usually is. Thawed snow, like Evian, is all right. You know what else? Coke! Bottled Coke uses by far the best quality water in Austria, where I live. Get it from their own private well. (Technically, it is a different company called Coca Cola HBC (Hellenica Bottling Company) which used to be responsible for Greece and now does the area from Nigeria to Russia) Or take the Crimean bridge. On one hand, it was Putin cronies. On other hand, built under budget and faster than expected. (It is a very difficult site, because there is ~70m of quicksand-like sediment on the bottom. A previous bridge once built by Nazis only lasted a season)

I have heard that Russia has good deals on corrective vision surgery also. Could be worth a ticket? When I was living in California, I had a wisdom tooth pulled for less than $20 in materials. Submitted myself to University of the Pacific Dental School as a study aid. The noobs couldn't do it and had to unthaw some kind of professor emeritus of dental arts, a tiny grandpa. He said, "Watch it, worms!" and climbed on top of my chest. The vision correction is done by a laser robot. Human surgeon does very little Whoever has the latest and best device, wins. I had mine done in Bratislava. From -7 myopia to not-quite-perfect state of being simultaneously a bit short- and a bit farsighted. Which they said is likely to happen. Such a large correction might need more than one hop to perfection. Or better! They often do get better than normal vision acuity. I had not the LASIK, but the other one, that heals longer but is approved for pilots and martial artists. Moore currently serves as a director of the CO2 Coalition, established in 2015 to create educational material on the importance of carbon dioxide. The organization has published papers presenting scientific data to dispute that CO2 emissions are causing global warming. Contrary to what climate alarmists claim, Moore says, “carbon dioxide is the basis of all life on Earth.” “It makes the oceans less alkaline, thus making it suitable for life,” and “on land, CO2 makes the greening of the Earth plus it makes plants more efficient with water.” In April 2016, an article published in Nature funded in part by NASA found that CO2 fertilization has had significant impact on the greening of the planet. “From a quarter to half of Earth’s vegetated lands has shown significant greening over the last 35 years largely due to rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide,” reads a post on NASA’s site on the study. I drink CO2 all day long every day. It is very refreshing!

A new study published in the journal Science Advances titled “Biophysical impacts of Earth greening largely controlled by aerodynamic resistance” reports that the entire land surface would have been much warmer without the cooling effect of increased green cover during the recent decades. The study used high-quality satellite data from NASA’s MODIS sensors and NCAR’s state-of-the-art numerical earth system model. As for the cut back on deforestation this is already happening, at least in developed countries. The deforestation scare stories you read about, say, the Amazon basin, are largely baseless.. farmers cut jungle down in those areas and it grows back. the stories then quote the stats on jungle cut down but does not mention the jungle growing back.. And we agree on carbon production.. yes, it wil be both useless and counter-productive.. Europe has been working hard to increase forest coverage from the initial ~12% to 28% (or more) at the moment. They might have initiated reforestation elsewhere with this excellent effort too. Nevertheless, if they are paying replantation per tree, they might get those malnourished forest of less than 30cm apart among trees, which creates longer lasting fire shall it happen?? But check this out: 50 countries with lowest forest coverage in the world: https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/the-least-forested-countries-in-the-world.html Out of geographical constrains, those countries might not have suitable condition for trees. Or fully developed? What is more alarming is a wild guess.............. that ~ 80% of all 195 countries in the world might have less than 30% of forest coverage? Single type of agricultural crop over a vast land mass is said facing problem of water shortage around the world. Climate change has been blamed as the culprit. The documentary showed the opposite i.e. vast land mass of mono culture causes climate change in Europe. The causal-effect is as explained in a summary screenshot in the previous reply. Compounding with concrete forests......... An estimation of more than 70% of people in the world would be living in urban areas by 2030 (initial figure few years back). https://www.un.org/development/desa/en/news/population/2018-revision-of-world-urbanization-prospects.html Imagine these conditions are repeated everywhere in those 80% of 195 countries with lower than 30% forest coverage....... Halloween scare story comes early? 1
