Siberian peat and all other frozen peat bogs can release more methane than we can imagine. It is a major fear of the Climate Change movement. Few see the up side which is a warmer Siberia, Canada, etc. There is more fear over D.C. and other coastal cities being gradually submerged around the world. At this point it doesn't seem like slowing fossil fuels is a good idea until Wind, Solar, and other Green options are farther advanced and in place!

Meh,  when the Gas and Oil runs out we will have have other ways of making something equivalent waaaaaay before it actually runs out, most likely some kind of genetically modified algae or something, the whole "oil will run out" is too 1970s

Think about why you would make something that is already super abundant around the world, peat. With modern chemistry it could have endless uses. Algae has proven to be a non starter in all attempts. It is just too much of a problem to get to scale. 

When you empty  a peat bog you end up with a lake that can connect various places for easy transportation also. 

Right now Russia is dealing with buildings sinking into the ground because they were built on perma frost. They will have to have new foundations, or barges under them. Peat is very valuable in gardening, aquaculture, greenhouses, agriculture etc. It is also a traditional source of heating in peat stoves, much like firewood or coal. Of course the manmade global warming theorists oppose its use.

Russia wants to go sharply into agriculture. For now, they at least have managed to become a net exporter in agriculture.

Russia has also the second highest immigrant populations in the world in terms of numbers, as well as one of the most liberal immigration policies in the world (anyone who works in Russia for five years and becomes fluent can become a citizen).

That doesn’t mean that they are treated well, they often aren’t, but they are there. They clean toilets and earn very litlle but nowadays noone wants new imigrants from Central Asia so they work in Russia.

But its HIGH TIME to understand you cant eat cake and have it too.

Russia as a state also has exactly the same approach to global warming as everyone working in the oil industry on this forum.

Nobody cuts the branch they are sitting on.

Putin and Trump were exacly  in the same boat on this subject. As you know, Trump was  supported mainly by the oil and gas sector, and Biden is  supported by new ecological technologies.

It makes no sense to add extended  deep ideology to the fact that everyone wants to earn as much as possible in long-term perspective.

And normal people doesnt want to loose their well-paid jobs without their fault for some thereothical happiness of future generations.

As simple as it is.

At least Mr Biden found 3 guilty Parties. Russia, China and Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Putin knew long before the Meeting, which unprofessional was organized. The Idea in 2 days to make qualified arrangements is not possible when permanent Lobbyists wandering through the Event hall.

Mr Biden would better cleanup in the US. Without a law in both Chambers US Position are only temporary till the next majority in one of the houses. Chinese and Russia would never make a move till that Law will be in place.
