Europe is a wildly variable area, with enormous differences in wealth, infrastructure and availability of power. Norway is a country that has been heating houses with electricity for many years and hence has the capacity and infrastructure to support a 100% EV world. So far, for 2023, sales have been 83% BEV, 9% PHEV, 4% HEV and 4% traditional ICE. As a result, at the moment about 25% of all cars on the road are BEV, and another 25% are PHEV.

Norway is now fully on board for a fossil fuel future.

You may be right but the opposition to such policies, in America, may be too great. I am on the side of free choice and freedom of speech. Many Americans are tired of big government mandates. Time will tell. Hopefully we will not be influenced by the norms in Europe and Canada.

Yep like I said I don't agree with the policies myself, I'm all for a free market and the freedom of choice, or we're no better than China IMHO!

The younger generations have something in common with previous young generations....they get older, get married, undertake due diligence in public policy and demand that governments not waste their hard earned money.

Difference is the move to greener things like powergen and EV's is that they are happening so quickly the younger generation havent got time to get old!

Norway has never been anything but on board!! Oil & gas is their cash cow!

They would be stupid not to cash in on Germany and Italy's plight with reliance on Russian NG.

I agree those oil & gas fields need to be explored and developed for European reliance on its self not Russia in the short term and whilst Europe transitions away from FF until the renewable infrastructure ramps up to compensate, which it is.

They will eventually wake up to reality and accept the genuine science on this.

The "short term" is what? Two or three generations? That is the time-frame for major fossil fuel investments to be played out. By that time the ludicrous claims of the Green hoax will have long since been disproved.

Norway claims that fossil fuels are here to stay.

"The government says Norway's oil and gas resources are essential to Europe's energy security and will be needed for decades to come."

Implicit in this assessment is the view that bans on fossil fuel cars will not be happening.

If the future of oil was so bright the government wouldn't need to stimulate investment.  You always look at these articles the wrong way, this is about temporary support of a failing industry.

"Norway's parliament in 2020 introduced temporary tax incentives to encourage petroleum investment at a time of low activity, triggering a rush of applications from energy companies."

At least we should now expect fewer complaints from you about electric / green subsidies. :)

There is a huge difference between temporary tax incentives and permanent subsidies.

Why the need?  Because "energy" companies clearly are not re-investing much in their fossil fuel sections without stimulus.  They do invest heavily in their transition away from fossil fuels.

"And while we’re mostly in oil and gas today, we’ve increased global investment in our lower carbon, convenience stores and power trading businesses (what we call our ‘transition growth engines’) from around 3% in 2019 to around 30% in 2022."

"To deliver our Powering Progress Strategy and accelerate the transition of our business to net-zero emissions, Shell is working to provide more renewable and low-carbon energy options for customers through investments in wind, solar, electric vehicle charging, hydrogen, and more."

American oil production is now surpassing all-time highs. The oil industry is perking along in great shape.

I would agree that FF are here to stay but massively reduced and mostly required for heating mixed with H2 but also petrochemicals which arent going away any time soon. We just dont need FF for transportation or powergen thats a reality now let alone in 2 decades time.

Production and demand arent the same, expect to see the oil price crash in H2 2024 as OPEC+ also increase production, whilst Guyana ramp up their production also. With an estimated 1.5mb/d on the market by end of 2024 what do you think is going to happen to the price?

The only problem here was her behaviour. Sending people ahead to block a service to others just so there was no chance she could be slightly inconvenienced is a dick move.  She is not that important.

I can assure you ICE vehicle owners have had many altercations over parking spaces.  Watch it's fun.

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=people+fighting+over+parking+spaces

So once again you try to pin problems on EV's that have nothing to do with the fuel type.

Also consider that if EV parking spaces are in such great demand that is a good sign for the future of EV's. :) Not some passing fad if people have to bud in line.

Did that make you witty?  Nonsense unrelated to the discussion at hand.

Did you watch the fossil fuel car humans fighting over parking?  It's funny and you may find it educational.

Fuel Prices Are Soaring: Who Is Feeling the Pinch? (msn.com)

Oil can't win.

If OPEC removes the production cuts oil prices will fall so low the energy companies won't invest in new exploration.

If the artificial scarcity of oil continues fuel prices will rise enough to encourage further EV adoption.

“It’s not going to be that successful in the end. A whole bunch of colleagues will no longer be able to work there, at least temporarily.”

The report notes it could affect a few hundred (of the 11,000) employees at the end of October.

However, this number is not confirmed.

Europe is in a recession....caused by the inflation that is a direct result of the Natural Gas Price spike.....

do not worry .....EV production is  not ending

Production of oil has already rapidly increased but oil prices continue to rise, that is because demand for oil is really taking off into the stratosphere.

Soon all the cars on the lots will be EV.  Fancy that.

It will mean the "green agenda" won.

Will never happen. Only 1.25% of EU vehicles are EV, that is about as high as it will ever get.

EVs are filling fields in China as unwanted and unsold.
