Argentina's Ambition to Become a Lithium Superpower

In the global rush to supply electric car revolution, lithium hot spot Argentina is grappling with a shortage of technical personnel. Argentina has ambitions to become a lithium superpower, suppling as much as 45 percent of the market, up from about 16 percent now. But on its way to this ambition this country is facing not only with unpredictable weather and financial problems, but also with dearth of skilled workers.

Argentina was the world's third-biggest producer in 2016, right after Australia and Chile. And now it's trying to take market share from its neighbor Chile, using the circumstances that Chile need an authorization from the nuclear energy commission in a thrrowback to a 1979 decision to declare lithium "strategic".

Well, considering the race for satisfying electric vehicles needs for lithium, Argentina will have to speed up this talent search.
