American politics in a nutshell (both sides).  Gee, and I wonder why people think the country is divided.

90% of the news is left wing. So saying both sides is not at all an equal match. Fortunately many can see right through the left wing.

One of the questions I ask Trump supporters is: "What would Trump have to do for you to feel that he betrayed everything you stood for?". What I get in response is simply a blank stare and silence.

Well, firstly, he would have had to have been found guilty in a court of law of breaking some major law.  Accusations and sound bites just don't do it for me.

At least we have the freedom to think for ourselves. That can be very costly in China and other nations. We are at risk of losing free speech in Europe and America however. Facebook, Google, Twitter, and their cronies are all hard at work to silence conservatives and even moderates in many cases.

First they came for the alt right, then they came for the conservatives, then they came for the moderates, then they came for the Democrats.

That doesn't answer the question, it simply kicks the can down the road. The question isn't what he's done (or not done), it is 'what would he have to do?'.

Of course it matters...

So WHY AREN'T YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT ALL OF THE CLINTON'S CRIMES,  OR ABOUT OBAMA ?

There are no laws that Trump has broken that have been shown.......  Just lies..........

Clinton and Obama aren't in office. Notice I'm not complaining about G.W. Bush's 'crimes' either.

I'm wondering if any of the people here are veterans, and what they think of Trump's use of the money raised through his veteran's charitable foundation. The one being sued by New York State.

'Foreign emoluments' ends up being a matter for Congress to determine when drafting an impeachment resolution. Since this is the subject of an active lawsuit, this matter may be clarified at any time.

Whereas various other groups, such as the NRA, are busily silencing their critics as well. This game is played at every point in the spectrum.

Yeah, been hearing that for 2 years, but nothing out of Congress yet.  But "may" be clarified at any time.....

You see, it's always what someone thinks is wrong or have been told is illegal, but then there is nothing from the court, any court, and nothing from Congress.  For a man that is in the hotel and golf course business, it is a pretty long stretch to say that people staying in Trump managed, or even owned (if there are any) hotels/properties are emoluments.  AND, just because "they", whoever they are at any given moment, say that the secret service or foreign figures staying in Trump managed or owned properties is wrong and "may" be in conflict with the emoluments rules, does not, apparently, mean it is so because there have been no charges brought.  Fact is, if I was guarding Trump and he was staying in "Trump Tower" or some other property with his name on it, I would probably think it a good idea to stay in the same property, if I was making those kinds of decisions.  Or, if I was visiting the U.S. and wanted to garner favor with my host, I would probably want to stay in the same place as my host or in his property, if I wanted my host to appreciate a gesture.

We could go on with these scenarios all day and night, goodness knows the media do, but it does not prove anything is illegal; it is just talk and accusations and more smear after more smear after more smear.

Very well said, but Russia did invade Eastern Ukraine and Crimea. They are very tricky and ran circles around Obama, as just about every other enemy did.

China, North Korea, Russia, Iran, and Cuba are our greatest concern. They all work together well.

We should try to convince Russia that their best interests are served by dropping their aggression and benefitting from better relations with the West. They are still trying to weaken Western Europe and advance their influence worldwide. That is what they do. A bad habit that will probably not change. The Russian people will continue to suffer under the status quo.

I spent 4 years in Russia and the FSU. Just for the record, 50% of the people in Ukraine are native Russians(primarily because Stalin Murdered 15 million Ukrainians) and the most corrupt government I dealt with was in Ukraine causing the Russian locals to ask Moscow for help. If Crimea is redrawing international boundaries(95% Russians) why is forming Kosovo out of Serbia by NATO not redrawing international boundaries. If you go to Novi Sad with a US passport make sure to let them know you didn't like the Clintons either.

The NRA spends gobs of money to advertise itself,   NOT silence their critics......

In America,   SILENCING YOUR CRITICS    is almost exclusively a   LIBERAL DEMOCRAT / SOCIALIST / COMMUNIST TOOL...

Ayn Rand was right about how socialism has progressed to this point. Another great industrialist has pointed this out by leaving Britain for Monaco and telling the European Union, Britain and others why. He is a new hero for a real Objectivist tale.

The UK should adopt a similar tax law as the USA.

That way irrespective of whether spiv Ratcliffe lives in Monaco or not his businesses in the UK generate his income and therefore are domiciled here for tax purposes.

Alternatively he could go and build his Chemical plants in Monaco😄

G.W. Bush doesn't have any crimes, just some big mistakes. The Obama Administration had dozens IMHO.

Careful what you ask for....

I mean, we have had waves of businesses and business-people take their ball and go to another country.  The systems should reward the successful and encourage more of the same.  What we seem to experience way too much of these days is successful people somehow become targets that need to be torn down.  Think about it, it never worked in the history of any country on the planet, yet even in the U.S. we are in awe and want to join when they are on the way up and then, when they make it, we want to blame it all on them.

I don't know, Ron.  I read the book "Bush" by Jean Edward Smith, and it sure got me thinking.  G.W. would seem to have a great number of things to answer for, if he was indeed the CIC.

Russia Russia Russia.........

The only thing worse than us constantly treating Russia as our biggest enemy, after all this time as @mthebold pointed out, is folks labeling any dissenting opinion with which they don’t agree(especially if it’s against regressive socialist ideology) as inspired by, supported by or in support of Russia.  It’s childish and ridiculous.

I’m not suggesting we turn a blind eye to Russia.  I can admit however the US made some poor decisions militarily with regard to NATO expansion and the equipping of those new eastern block countries after the dissolution of the USSR.  Hell, we didn’t want missiles in Cuba for the same reason.

A bigger threat we face is people who find it convenient to suggest Russia is responsible for the beliefs and opinions of a huge swath of the American Citizenry.  Still don’t get it huh?  Those people are railing against socialist/communist/regressive liberal ideology.  No need for help from Russia in that regard.  No amount of silly Mueller Special Prosecutor indictments of unnamed Russian actors for social media meddling is going to change the truth.  A HUGE percentage of Americans don’t like what the modern Democrat machine or its puppet masters stand for.  That’s how we got Trump.  Calling everything contrary to that a Russian plant or collaborative effort is pure projection.

But folks let’s be realistic, China is way more of a threat on so many levels.

It is not US who is treating Russia as their biggest enemy, it is Russia who treats US as their biggest enemy. I know that, as my neighbour country is Russia, one of languages I speak is Russian, I am well aware of the general sentiment toward US among Russian people.(about 85%) When russians generally speak about US or US people they use derogatory synonyms for americans (pindosy, amerikosy) Their news (NTV, Rossiya24, Pervyi kanal, TV Tsentr, etc.) are full of schrödinger truths, half truths and lies about US, portraying US as their main enemy.

I should remind, that countries that were occupied by soviet empire don't want back to that world. It is not that US expanded its borders towards Russia, (thats what Russian propaganda is telling you, another Schrödinger truth) It is some free ex- soviet occupied countries decided to knock on NATO door and get in at any cost. These are very different things.
