Drone attacks cause fire at two Saudi Aramco facilities, blaze now under control

Recommended Posts

Color me impressed with the photos. Odd we go public with revealing capabilities but wow. This is not good, the accuracy involved hitting these targets.

To be that precise the weapons either had an ability to terminal navigate using a visual sensor, basically images loaded, or local help for the terminal navigation. GPS is accurate, but not that accurate, and relatively easy for us to to toss of 10 feet and nobody notices.

Has it occurred to powers at be that maybe deescalation is the best bath?

My way of the highway isn't working very well. The Ghandi line, eye for a eye and eventually we are all blind. Thinking we have enough sticks to only have our opponent blind is a danger play. The US can overwhelm anyone in an all out shooting war, but that is pretty darn messy, generally counter-productive to the original intent.

We should should also introduce more errors in the GPS system. Unless you have someone on the ground nearby for putting in the fix, we can make GPS plenty inaccurate, and still accurate enough for most GPS users.

Google Earth is good to within 10m.  Tanks are over 50m in diameter.  There is far more than GPS up there.  Going to inform the Russians(GLONASS) to add inaccuracies as well?  Hell they want higher oil prices.  EU might go along with the US and degrade Galileo.  China sure as heck won't.

My pictures in a different thread

Jabbar seems a bit… off, but he might be into something about the fire being outside the facility. I put the pictures next to each other in the link above. Didn't want to go through the hassle of doing it again here.

I've read several reports that some drones were recovered after failing to reach their target. If this is true, then it should not be hard too determine who was to blame and also what method the drones were using to hit their targets so precisely.

Government is not in the business of making money.  If it is, we are so screwed as it means we are effectively a dictatorship/communist/socialist "paradise"

I’m not sure I follow your thinking and can assure you from personal experience that communist/socialist government is very bad at making money.

As for the screwed - yes, we are. What we have in states and many other countries falls under one of fascism definition - corporations excessive powers, populism, police state, finding enemy, anti-conservatism etc.

If Trump actually wants to go to war, then why did he fire Bolton? Doesn’t make sense.

Uh, you can buy the guidance systems and modify them off any drone with a GPS fix of less than a meter.  If that is too complex for you, you can buy off the shelf programmable RC airplane guidance with TV video as well! Why I stated testing to get the timing turn over fixed angle of descent.  Only requires a single test to get the distance on bearing at which to turn over for a zero zero.

This is not 1990 anymore........

PS: You do realize that for over a decade we have had automated RC drone racing through a closed course inside buildings......  The automated racing got boring so they had to modify the rules massively reintroducing the human pilot.

So what is the range of these guidance systems you talk about? A couple of a hundred kilometers or a Walmart parking lot?

With GPS/Galileo/GLONASS/COMPASS; infinite

As for old school guidance minus GPS: Infinite, all you have to do is buy RC grade INS.  First non military trans atlantic drone flight by the guys who started INSITU who now make commercial drones many of which are used by the military happened in 1992 or was it 1994?

If you want video anywhere in the world, just buy commercial satellite bandwidth giving you visual guidance.  A bit laggy(1s lag) but you could do it and fly manually with onboard RC gyro sold at any RC hobby shop.

As for the visual guidance minus commercial satellites, the buy off the shelf unmodified components are good for about ~10 miles as the transmitter is limited due to international HAM limitations.  Of course if you are going to blow something up, just increase transmitter power and we are talking ~100 but gets really bulky on the transmitter end past this and would probably start to eat massively into your payload.

If fly without visual guidance minus satellites and just fly via sensors and onboard GPS, but not guided by GPS?  Just use standard off the shelf digital HAM radio equipment and we are talking ~200-->1000miles.

Lots of options.  The visual pictures shown in thread would indicate just used standard GPS homing.  Open a standard drone and just change its "return home" GPS signal to one you program at start instead of set at start.  Commercial drones already have the option built in and used every time they fly

Fascism is very much the trend of the day.  Fascism is appealing to the small mind, as it allows for complete suppression of views that do not adhere to the mainline thinking of those that have set themselves up as the Rulers.  You find fascist thinking throughout the planet, including even in nominal parliamental democracies such as Canada.

The local expression of Fascist thinking is in various enforcement agencies such as policemen, where the expression of fascism is in "compliance."  Now, "compliance" is defined as whatever those men think it should be defined as.  For example, in Vermont the US Border Patrol, Division of "Homeland Security," has set up a "checkpoint" on a sleepy little backwater road that runs over a causeway between a set of islands in Lake Champlain and the main shoreline.  Then these Greenshirts stop every single car and demand:  "Are you a US Citizen?"

If you say "Yes,"  you can pass.  If you say "No," you are detained.  If you refuse to answer, or tell them they are total morons, you are detained. If you tell them they are a bunch of losers, that the reason they got hired was because they got all "C's" in high school, you are detained.  If you tell them they are bullies today because they used to steal the lunch money from the second graders on the school bus, you are detained.  Is this "legal"?  Of course not.  Do the fascists do it anyway?  But of course.  Do they ever "catch" anyone?  Out of roughly 900 stops, they find one Mexican farmworker, some guy who is here milking cows and shoveling manure out of the barn for a few bucks, to support his family back home.  Is this totally ridiculous?  Of course it is.

image.png.4827f7af2e92af1564e8c8978d298640.png

For those of you readers who are Americans, you  can be proud of what your government is up to, in your name, spending your cash.  Note particularly the dog and the guns.  Real dangerous people, these Mexican farm workers that shovel barn manure.  Put them in chains, all of them.  Real dangerous.

The idea of internal checkpoints has really taken off in the mentality of the Fascists inside the US Government, Department of Homeland Security.  They do the same moronic thing on the Interstates.  This Interstate checkpoint was at Hanover, New Hampshire:  97 miles from the Canadian Border.  They were busy catching Canadians.  If you are Canadian, you do not need a visa to enter the USA.  Stet up the checkpoint anyway. Same drill:  "Are you a US citizen?"

image.png.b4a9f16b18e9b0081994cca7e9c2aa3e.png

OK, Americans, are you proud now about what your government is doing?  Remind anybody of East Germany, say around 1966?

Just lovely.

Not difficult to envision at all.  Your drone flies at a specified height on a specified velocity/bearing.  Testing shows exactly the angle of descent/timing to achieve a zero, zero intercept and then you simply program the required GPS coordinates at which to turn over and descend.  Bloody simple programming any C++ student could do it.

If this is the case, then this is the best news/development for all terrorists the world over.

Only snag may be getting a c++ student.

Just sayin’.......😂

That would be putting it mildly.  Then again, you should see the protests here in Vermont.  The previous Governor kicked these guys out of the rest stops, where they used to pull everybody in, mostly because these BP guys were stopping the ski-tour buses and interrogating the skiers from Boston.  One at a time.  Everybody off the bus.  Now we interrogate you.  Teach you to come to Vermont to go skiing.  Me, I am moving Downstate to get away from that 100-mile zone.   These guys are just ridiculous.  And yes, they are the ultimate expression of Fascism, no different from the Communists. Time to move.

Homeland Security guy:   "(whatever)"

Me:    "I have nothing to say,  Go talk to my lawyer."

Guy:   "Who is that?"

Me:  "I have nothing to say.  You figure it out."

Guy:  "You are detained!"

Me:   "Fine.  I need a nice fat jury verdict to supplement my pension."
