My guess is that this was way back in the days before the Albertans were being held in scorn and opprobrium by the inhabitants of Ontario and Quebec! Great stamp.
If that is representing a ‘gusher’, then it is both environmentally and politically incorrect and should not be allowed to be traded, collected, or otherwise appreciated!
Ahhh...the good old days.
It is a 1950 issued stamp. This was issued just as new big discoveries were being made in Alberta. Prior to this the small southwestern Ontario area accounted for much of Canada's production. Crude oil was mostly imported from the U.S. It was hoped that others would also post their favorite crude oil stamps.
