For your comment to be resoundingly cutting would necessitate you had a different solution to that taken by European nations and if it were a continuation of the previous electricity generating regime you would have Europe with assets that are no longer cost effective on a watt for watt basis and these would become massive loss making stranded assets. Additional benefits include local air pollution and the other biggie - energy security.
