I lived in California almost half of my life, all areas. I have lived in central Illinois for 36 years. Only this year have my gun rights been truly threatened. That is because Chicago is a distant appendage in the Northeast corner of our state. It is run by socialist grifters and crony capitalists that are unscrupulous money grubbers and vote buyers. Our gun rights groups will defeat the attempts of the gun grabbers but they are a pain in he butt. Illinois will lose many of its best citizens due to high taxes that will not be able to keep up with the expenditures continuing.

One of my ancestors served in the Blackhawk War of 1832 and later owned a good chunk of downtown Chicago when it was still farmland. He sold it when it was still a farm, and regretted the sale later. My wife and I have visited the city and loved it, the Chicago Symphony, the Art Institute, unbeatable prestige achievements. 

What has happened to Chicago? We used to walk around at night downtown and it was safe and fun. Now you need to travel as a group.

I have lived in central Illinois corn country for 36 years. Democrats have controlled the legislature that entire time. They have controlled Chicago that whole time. Governor Prizker is a very liberal Democrat also. My wife and I spent many hours working for Darren Bailey for governor. He is a devout Christian farmer from near Vandalia further south than where I live. He and his wife oversee two Christian schools. We also supported many other conservative candidates. Two of our judges won, that is it. One won a State Appeals Court position, that was a good win as was another judge or two locally. We are now facing attempts by Pritzker and the legislature to relax laws and eliminate bail statewide. Also to take away ARs and pistols with mags over 10 rounds. If you have more than two such mags you would be a 2nd degree felon. 

Our political work is the reason I have not had much time for Oil Price. Fortunately we have a wonderful American Constitution to protect our rights. Unfortunately most Democrats want to ignore the fact that it IS the LAW of the Land. We have some great leaders of Second Amendment, and other civil rights in Illinois and nationwide. 

We love our home and our acre of trees on the edge of town. I may die here, and that is currently my preference since moving at age 77 is kind of undesirable when you love your home. I do have the option of moving to a Red State but 95% of Illinoiis is inhabited by people who mainly voted for a God Fearing Republican Constitutionalist!

And, no, Tesla's are not remotely perfect substitutes for the kind of low-end EVs which are selling in China, these are drastically different market segments.

Actually nobody drives these in Europe, but lots of people drive Tesla's. Main reason is supply and a greter trust in the brand.

For a Chinese company to succeed being able to compete on price and performance with Tesla is nowhere near enough, they have to be a lot cheaper and offer more otherwise Europeans will go with what they know and trust the established brand.
